Yellow Roses, Holy Basil & Hope

Yellow Roses, Holy Basil & Hope

With the surge of both peaceful and destructive protests that have occurred across our country and the world in recent weeks, it’s left a lot of people feeling saddened, angry, defensive, divided, frustrated, shocked, confused and maybe just an overall sense of heaviness. It’s been a lot to face and absorb these last few months. And it’s not something that soon will pass and be gone like a storm. But like everything in life, the only thing that stays the same is that everything changes. I still believe that all of this will bring changes, growth, awareness, continued conversations and transformation.

With that sense of heaviness along with some other things, I decided to buy a bouquet of flowers to brighten up my mood and home – the picture you see above. And I just love admiring flowers and plants. I specifically chose a bouquet with yellow roses as that is my favorite flower. I’m not sure why but I’m really drawn to the brightness and beauty of yellow roses. When I look at them and smell their heavenly aroma, they just make me smile with happiness. It’s been said that yellow roses symbolize friendship, warmth, connection, joy, optimism, peace, appreciation and good health.

Whatever you might be feeling or thinking, may you see a greater shift towards joy, peace, connection, appreciation and friendships amongst all races. Currently, it does exist. We still need to get countless others on board.

Those roses have reminded me of this tea that I love to drink in the evening time, especially during the cooler temperatures. Yet this can be enjoyed anytime of year and you can chill it to make cold/iced tea. It’s called Cinnamon Rose Tulsi Tea by Organic India. You can also buy it in the Sweet Rose and many other wonderful, natural flavors.

Tulsi is also known as Holy Basil with the botanical name Ocimum sanctum. Tulsi is an aromatic medicinal herb that has it’s origin and reverence in India and has been used in Ayurvedic Medicine and Naturopathic Medicine for many years.

Benefits of Tulsi/Holy Basil include helping the body adapt to stress, moderating cortisol, balancing mood (related to stress and anxiety), and supporting a sense of calm. In some cases, it can promote better sleep if sleep is disrupted due to stress or anxiousness.

You can buy the different flavors here at the link below and some are available at local natural food grocery stores.

With many people heading back to work, the return of commute time, increasing responsibilities and therefore more stress, be sure to replenish the body with nutrient rich foods (fresh vegetables and fruits) and rejuvenate the body through some form of exercise. Fortunately, many gyms, yoga studios and swimming pools will be opening up soon. Excellent! In the meantime, do what you can to stay healthy.

Stay well, optimistic and please stay in touch.
